Kassia is a partner and leader in McKinsey’s global energy and sustainability platforms and co-leads McKinsey’s global energy private equity practice.

Kassia has nearly 25 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise spanning corporate strategy, structured finance, capital projects, and principal investing. She leads McKinsey’s global initiative on energy transition financing, with a focus on supporting private capital and industrial company partnerships to accelerate investments at scale.

In 2020, Kassia was honored as one of the 50 most powerful women in oil & gas by the National Diversity Council. In 2019, she founded Advancing Women Executives (AWE), a McKinsey partnership with industry leaders aiming to accelerate the number of women CEOs in the energy sector and other underrepresented industries. Kassia co-leads McKinsey’s work with the Greater Houston Partnership’s Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI), and serves on the HETI capital formation steering committee. She also previously led McKinsey’s partnership with the World Economic Forum on the Future of Oil & Gas, which convenes industry CEOs to assess the strategic implications of key game changers affecting the energy industry.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Kassia founded Tana Energy Capital, an energy investment and advisory firm, and was a Vice President with Hudson Clean Energy Partners, one of the first large-scale renewable energy PE firms. Previously, she worked with BP Plc in group strategy, and at Bechtel Enterprises, the project finance arm of Bechtel Corporation, where she structured equity investments in large-scale energy projects. She has testified before the US Congress and published articles in Foreign Affairs and elsewhere on energy topics. In 2005, she served in the White House as an advisor on energy at the National Economic Council.

Andrea Course works in Shell Ventures as Venture Principal where she invests in innovative start and scale-up companies that accelerate the energy transition, focusing in the areas of Digitalization, ML, AI, Robotics and Decarbonization. Currently she sits on the boards of Innowatts (Digital Energy Platform), and Mirico (Gas Measuring Systems) and she is part of the LPAC at HTX Venture Fund. Andrea has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector as both technical SME and investor. Prior to joining Shell, Andrea worked as Venture Principal at Schlumberger Technology Investments in addition to  working as Product Manager, Engineering Manager and Senior Product Analyst. She holds a degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master of Science from the University of Oklahoma in Aerospace Engineering and an executive MBA from the University of Houston.

Mark joined Prelude Ventures in 2013 to have a positive impact on the reversal of climate change by investing in entrepreneurs applying emerging technologies to established industries that use a significant amount of our energy or physical resources. 

Mark received a BS and MS in Chemical & Bio-molecular Engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has authored patents and publications in a wide variety of technologies focused on materials science in the fields of microelectronics, engineered polymers, advanced cements, barrier coatings, pharmaceutical delivery systems, and pulp & paper additives. 

Prior to joining Prelude Ventures, Mark worked with the Celanese Corporation, a Fortune 500 company specializing in advanced materials and chemicals. Mark held a number of technical roles in new product development, application development, and process design, as well as commercial roles in technical marketing and business development. He also spent time with Terawatt Ventures, the solar investment team at Chevron Technology Ventures, and with sustainable chemistry start-up Novomer.

Tim Latimer is the CEO of Fervo Energy. Fervo delivers 24/7 carbon free energy through development of next-generation geothermal power. Fervo's technology incorporates proven, cost-effective technologies, such as horizontal drilling and distributed fiber optic sensing, to unlock the potential of geothermal energy. Fervo is supported through Activate, Elemental Excelerator, the Department of Energy, Stanford University, and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Tim began his career as a Drilling Engineer with BHP Billiton where he worked in the Permian and Eagle Ford basins. With a growing appreciation of the urgency and importance of climate change, Tim left the oil and gas industry in 2015 to pursue an MBA and an MS in Environment and Resources from Stanford University and learn how to best contribute to the clean energy transition. Tim has also worked as a Consultant for the Boston Consulting Group and as a consultant for startups Biota Technology and McClure Geomechanics. Tim is a Fellow at Activate and the Clean Energy Leadership Institute. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Trevor Best is the CEO and Co-Founder of Syzygy Plasmonics. Syzygy is pioneering a new type of chemical reactor designed to produce industrial chemicals at lower cost and with fewer carbon emissions. Their novel technology is driven by light rather than combustion, enabling a substantially more efficient process. Critically, Syzygy’s technology supports energy security and expansion through resource efficiency. Recent publications show Syzygy’s core components can be made without using rare earth materials, adding to the company’s value as a sustainable technology provider. Before starting Syzygy, Trevor worked for the oilfield services company Baker Hughes.

There he held a variety of management positions and gained expertise in technology development, project and personnel management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. He is originally from Midland Texas and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

Kristin brings a decade of wide-ranging experience in biotechnology, hardware, high-growth startups, and operational and team-building expertise to Lowercarbon. Before joining Lowercarbon, Kristin was both an Entrepreneur-In-Residence with Carbon180 and a fellow with the NREL LabStart Program. In both of these programs, she investigated the commercialization potential of technologies at the intersection of carbon removal and synthetic biology (from building materials to chemicals to consumer goods and many industries in between). 

Prior to working full-time on climate, she worked to make scientific research more collaborative, reproducible, and accessible at Opentrons, an open-source lab robotics startup. As one of the earliest employees, she touched nearly every part of the business, kickstarted several of the company’s most critical operational pipelines, helped scale the team more than 40x, and worked with scientists and biohackers all over the world to develop a library of automated open-source lab workflows. 

In the even more distant past, Kristin managed cutting-edge clinical trials at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and worked as a wildlife rescue volunteer, a bartender in a heavy-metal joint, a barista, a retail salesperson, and a teaching assistant. Kristin also conducted an NSF-funded study in Poland and the Czech Republic, spending a summer pulling apart car engines to coat their pistons in nanolayers of diamond. She earned a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as the first woman in her rural Alabaman family to graduate from college.

Kristin has spoken internationally at countless universities and scientific conferences on topics ranging from open tech ecosystems to community biology. She’s a fellow and active member of the Global Community Biosummit organized through the Community Biotechnology Initiative at MIT Media Lab, and has participated in the Mozilla Foundation’s Open Leaders program to learn more about building inclusive communities in tech. She moonlights as a founding member of NewBioCity and a member of New York’s Genspace, and is active in several climate-focused communities including Sunrise Scientists and AirMiners. 

Kristin serves as the interim Director of Grants at iGEM. She also collaborates with a team of world-class scientists on the MIT Climate Grand Challenges and helps to build decentralized, open-source direct air capture projects with the Open Air Collective, both efforts to remove gigatons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Pretty cool! (Pun intended). In her abundant free time, you can usually find her somewhere in Brooklyn – running, lounging in a hammock at Prospect Park, yelling into the void on Twitter, reading sci-fi, hanging out with her pets, and trying to learn French. Note that if you cross her path, she will likely force you to try boiled peanuts, the food of her people.

Aaron Ledet is senior vice president, Olefins and Polyolefins (O&P), Americas for LyondellBasell. Aaron has manufacturing and commercial responsibility for the O&P Americas segment as well as global decarbonization and all future options for the Houston refining operation. Preceding this assignment, Aaron served as vice president, Olefins & Feedstocks and he has been in a variety of leadership roles in APS, I&D, and the global Supply Chain. Prior to joining the company, Aaron was with Chevron Phillips and one of its subsidiaries for just over 10 years, holding a variety of strategic and commercial roles. He started his career with Ernst & Young’s Management Consulting practice, focusing on post-mergers & acquisitions clients in the Energy, Chemical and Utilities segment. Over his career, he has served in leadership roles in the United States and Europe. Aaron earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from Rice University in Houston. Ric Campo has been Camden's Chief Executive Officer since the Company's initial public offering in 1993. Under Ric's leadership, Camden has grown from a Texas-based real estate firm with assets valued at $200 million in 1993 to an industry leader with a national footprint and assets valued at more than $16 billion. After working for a private Houston real estate company, Ric co-founded Camden's predecessor companies in 1982 with Keith Oden and has spent 40 years (and counting) building a successful organization known for management proficiency, development, construction capabilities, technology, training, and marketing savvy. Ric currently serves as Chairman of the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority, and he is on the Board of Directors of several organizations that focus on Houston's economic development and quality of life. These organizations include Central Houston, Inc., Greater Houston Partnership, The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Houston Branch, BakerRipley, and The Coalition for the Homeless. He is the past chairman of the Super Bowl LI host committee and Houston First Corporation. Sophie Purdom is a sustainable business practitioner and investor. She co-founded and writes the Climate Tech VC newsletter, with over 20,000 weekly readers, and is principal of C6 Solutions, an ESG strategy consultancy. An investor in early-stage climate-tech companies, Purdom previously founded Kula Bio, an ag-tech venture that makes carbon-negative ammonia fertilizer using microbes, where she raised over $15 million. She has taught on sustainable investing and founded and launched the Brown University Sustainable Investment Fund, the first ESG fund at a university endowment. Elizabeth Lutz, Vice President of Sustainability, has held a variety of roles within Camden over the past 12 years. Her combination of experiences has uniquely positioned her for her current role managing Camden’s sustainability programs to determine the projects and initiatives that provide the greatest return for Camden as well as overseeing sustainability and ESG reporting.

Elizabeth started her career with Camden in the Financial Reporting department where she filed quarterly and annual reports and was instrumental in bringing electronic data tagging of SEC filings in house. As Director of Business Services, Elizabeth supported Camden’s operations teams by managing the relationship with Camden’s property management software vendor, leading the periodic review of resident lease documents, and streamlining operations’ policies and procedures. Elizabeth has honed her project management skills by running Camden’s unit reposition program, organizing the SharePoint roll out for the Accounting department and implementing a utility invoice payment process to streamline the collection of utility consumption data and rebilling of utility costs to residents. Reece is a Partner at Propeller where he focuses on investing in and supporting ocean entrepreneurs at the earliest stages of their ventures.

Reece has also been an active angel investor at the ocean-climate nexus, where he leverages his professional experience as a startup veteran and ocean conservation leader. Previously he held a dual role as SVP Ocean Responsibility at the World Surf League and Executive Director of WSL PURE (the WSL’s 501(c)(3)). In these roles Reece, reduced the WSL’s emissions by 25% from baseline and offset the remainder (Scope 1-3) with a verified portfolio of 100% nature-based solutions. Reece also led global conservation campaigns in partnership with premier NGOs and global brands activating millions of fans around the world in ocean conservation.

Janice provides the leadership and financing strategy for Kanin Energy. Prior to Kanin, Janice was an early employee and Director at Generate Capital, a project finance investment firm that focused on investing in renewable energy projects. There she built North America’s largest portfolio of anaerobic digestions assets. Her role spanned across deal execution, origination, market development and asset management.

Prior to Generate Capital, Janice worked at NRG, one of America’s largest power producers, to start their renewable microgrids business line. Janice is a licensed Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Canada. She also has a Masters of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in New York, where she received an Earth Institute Fellowship.

Janice also has a Masters in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan, and double majored with a BA in Philosophy and BComm in Accounting from the University of Calgary.
